Enlarging Vocabulary Through Greek Word Elements

English contains a substantial and growing number of words derived from Greek. Some of these words are general words in everyday use,e.g.authentic,chronological,economical,homogeneous,etc

:for example

A. AUT, AUTO: self    "automatic(adj.): acting by itself

B.PAN, PANTO: all,complete    "panoply(n.): complete suit of armor

C. MANIA: madness    "kleptomania(n.): insane impulse to steal

D. ORTHO: straight, correct     "orthography(n.): correct spelling
