Some points about "Paragraph Development" exam
Dear students,
As far as I have understood, some of you still have questions regarding your exam so I thought it might be a good idea to let you know about the content of the test so that you won't feel confused or puzzled. Moreover, I don't like to be bombarded with questions on the exam day!
1. You can have dictionaries with you on the exam day. In other words, it is "open dictionary". Yet, I strongly recommend you not to rely on your cell phone dictionaries because most probably the proctors won't let you use them, even if it's for benign purposes!!
2. You won't have to define any key term, yet, you should know what they are and how they are used. Moreover, you have to be able to identify them.
3. Make sure to budget your time. If you run short of time, there is nothing I can do for you.
4. Make sure to read the instructions carefully first and then attempt to answer the questions. (For example, you may be given 3 topics, but you are asked to choose only one of them.)
5. Some questions may have more than one part. So make sure you don't miss anything. (For example, you have to write a paragraph about a topic, then you are asked to identify the enumerator and the listing signals in your paragraph.)
6. Don't write more than you are asked to. For example, if you are asked to write one topic sentence only, the first topic sentence you provide will be read, even if it's the worst one!
7. Pay attention to punctuation (comma, semicolon, etc.).
8. Don't panic! The exam is easier than what you probably imagine. ;-)
Good luck!
